Early HJ Youth Knife by Mandewirth – D970

This is a fairly rare maker for these Hitler Youth knives, as I don’t recall ever encountering this manufacture anytime in the past. The Bakelite grip plates are in excellent condition, nicely checked, precision trimmed, and expertly fit to this hilt. A gorgeous little HJ diamond is nicely set in the center of the obverse section, and is in beautiful condition. As for the plating to the hilt, it remains strong, exhibiting just minimal lifting.

The scabbard to this knife is in good shape. It is straight, void of any splits, dents, or creases. It’s period black lacquer is still very strong at 95%. At the top of the shell an excellent leather hanger is intact, and functions properly as it should.

For an early HJ knife, the blade is very acceptable. It is straight, full length, tight in the hilt, and void of any tipping, sharpening scars, or cutting edge chips. The surface remain uncleaned, with nice natural muted appearance. A very decent and clear Blut und Ehre motto is shown etched straight down the center of the obverse. On the reverse is the eagle atop the globe logo. That being the trademark of the Ernst Mandewirth edged weapon firm.    SOLD
