Early Heer Officer’s Dagger by Holler – D893

When it comes to 3rd Reich Army officer daggers, nothing draws a crowd like an introductory slant grip example. Here is a killer example in this offering.

The gorgeous grip to this edged weapon is absolutely stunning. The Trolon has turned a very dark reddish orange, both obverse and reverse. It remains in near perfect condition, being void of any chips, cracks or missing material. That sharp diagonal decorative groove lines tells the collectors instantly that this is one of the revered so called slant grips which made their appearance in 1935 when the Heer dolchs first made their appearance. The hardware consisting of the crossguard, ferrule and pommel have taken on a rich dark patina which is just striking in every aspect. A stunning grip and hilt assembly on this fantastic Holler slant!

The scabbard to this dagger is decent throughout. It’s shell is fairly straight for such an early produced army, displaying a couple surface depressions mainly confined to the reverse tip due to possibly being slammed in a car door as we often see. A nice dark patina matching that of the hilt components has settled over the silver plated shell of this scabbard. Both scabbard bands are firmly in place and hold the hanger rings properly. 2 dome head screws hold the throat in place.

Take a look at the photos of the blade. It truly doesen’t get much nicer than this in any blade! It is full length, straight, drawn to a needle sharp tip, and void of any sharpening, tipping, or cutting edge chips.

These slants don’t come up all that often, and this one is an excellent example to be had for any collection.  SOLD
