Early Heer Officer’s Dagger by Eickhorn – D1205
In this listing is an introductory army officer’s dagger manufactured by the Carl Eickhorn firm in 1935. It is the desirable so-called “slant grip” variety which many collectors often seek for their personal collections. You can see why they are called slants by the drastic down angled of the decorative grooves exhibited by this beautiful orange handle. This edged weapon is untouched as shown by the totally black silver toned fittings consisting of this company’s initial type crossguard, as well as the early 14 leaf pommel. Wrapped around the hilt is the original silver bullion portapee laced in the configuration the officer tied it in nearly a century ago.
A fine scabbard accompanies this Eickhorn army dagger. The early silver over brass shell remains in fantastic condition, void of any bends, twists, splits, or hits. A gorgeous rich patina covers the entire surface. As shown the scabbard bands are the convex shaped examples which this firm initially used with their introductory Heer daggers. 2 side mounted screws secure the throat on this shell.
While the blade to this army dagger exhibits some surface age spots, it still remains full length, straight, void of any tipping, sharpening, buffing, or cutting-edge chips. Though not shown, the original brown blade washer is in place, properly tucked up under the crossguard. Lastly, the desirable small double oval squirrel logo is shown on the reverse riccasso of this blade.
An un-touched early Eickhorn slant for your consideration. SOLD
