Early Heer Dagger by WKC – D913
Oh, I know what you’re thinking…………not another WKC army dagger! But if this one doesn’t catch your attention I am not sure much else will. Slant grip Heer daggers have about disappeared from the market place. It’s not because there are any less of them than there was in 1945. But more the result of collectors squirreling them away. Here’s a stunning one that I put away years ago!
The grip to this army is nothing short of perfection. It is void of any chips, cracks, splits, or any other detraction. The color is a pumpkin orange which is consistently the same on all sides of this handle. As you can see, the drastic angled attractive decorative lines which slant from right to left, is the feature which gives these daggers the name they are referred to. The crossguard, ferrule, and pommel have a gorgeous undisturbed patina which has settle over their surfaces. As nothing has been cleaned nor polished on this dagger in the past. As an introductory Heer, all of these components are constructed out of heavy silver. A beautiful 14 leaf pommel holds this hilt assembly all together.
The brass base metal scabbard to this dagger is straight, heavy, black, and perfect. Like the hilt fittings, it is covered with a dark patina which matches exactly. Both scabbard bands are in place, and hold the hanger rings properly. The throat is secured by 2 flat head screws.
Finally the blade: MINT
This is one that I’ve kept for over 20 years. Now perhaps for your stable. SOLD
