Early FJ Takedown Knife by Weyersberg – D1163
Commonly encountered though most certainly desirable, are the 2nd pattern 3rd Reich gravity knives in which the blades are marked with RB numbers on them. While collectors are most familiar with these later issued edged weapons, most don’t realize that the initial contract for these 2nd pattern knives came with Weyersberg trademarked blades. And that is exactly what we have in this offering. But let’s begin with the rest of this knife first. The grip plates remain in fine condition, void of any missing chunks of wood, detracting pressure marks, or loose rivets. There is one thin hair line fissure emanating from the head release block, that doesn’t detract from this desirable knife. Both oak grip plates are beautifully matched in both color and grain. For an edged weapon which was certainly used by its owner, the bluing has held up significantly excellent on this takedown. The marlin spike extends and retracts back into position properly with a nice stiffness to the spring. And finally, the blade. It remains full length, operates exactly as it should, void of any tipping, sharpening scars, or cutting-edge chips. As would be hoped for, the blade, head, and upper cover plate are all matched with the factory assembly number 507. A rare Weyersberg takedown in beautiful condition. SOLD
