Dual Marked Dress Bayonet by Eickhorn and Schebbe – D687
Though this short dress bayonet avowed has some condition issues, it is a rather uncommon distributor, and also maker marked edged weapon. As you can see the release button / internal spring is missing from the pommel section. That aside, the checked grip plates are tightly riveted, being void of any missing material. The plating remains average to the rest of the hilt. Likewise, the scabbard shows some paint loss in the area of where a frog would have rubbed against the shell. In spite of the shortcomings, the blade is pretty decent to this heer bayonet. It remains full length and unsharpened, with decent plating on both sides. Like many of these edged weapons there is a slight wiggle that can be detected moving the piece in your hand from side to side. On the obverse of the riccasso is stamped with the uniform company distributor mark: L. Schebbe, Uniformen, AACHEN. On the reverse is shown the Carl Eickhorn 35-41 squirrel trademark. It’s an unusual combination of logos that I don’t think that I’ve encountered in the past. Anyway, a rather inexpensive dual marked short army dress bayonet. $95.00
