Deluxe Hunting Hirschfanger by Eickhorn – D906

Of the hunting daggers produced during the 3rd Reich era, nothing draws the attention of collectors like the “deluxe pattern 1711” One look at the overall beauty of this edged weapon and you can understand why that is.

The massive silver and stag hilt to this Hirschfanger is absolutely gorgeous. As shown in the photos, the antler section which was chosen for the grip of this dagger can be described as nothing short of striking. Subtle streaks of light grain contrasting against those darker sections, has such a visual impact. The material is in perfect condition, and void of any crack, splits, or chips. A fantastic DJ emblem representing the Jaeger organization is shown expertly set in place on the obverse side of this beautiful grip. And talk about appearance, take a look at that dark rich patina which has settle over the hardware on this hilt. It has turned the clam shell, crossguard, ferrule and upper cap near totally black. All the components are nice and tight on this Hirschfanger hilt, and firmly in place.

An excellent scabbard accompanies this Eickhorn deluxe pattern hunting dagger. The shell remains fairly straight, save for the slight irregularities common with the internal spring runners within these scabbards. Excellent green dyed leather shows all in place, being void of any rips, tears, or separations. The lower stapled silver fitting has turned dark over the years, and matches the hilt components to a tee. While the upper fitting is pretty much the same, it still has some of the factory lacquer clinging to it’s surface in places. A fantastic frog and teardrop belt clip complete this scabbard assembly. Definitely a nice extra value set of accoutrements, adding value to this beautiful Eickhorn deluxe.

And the blade, it remains full length, void of any sharpening, tipping, buffing, bends, or cutting edge chips. There is a little bit of age at the tip section, but honestly not all that much of a detraction. Considering everything else this edged weapon has going for it. Additionally, take a look at that killer dark floral and fauna scene etch running down both sides of this blade! Exactly what these deluxe patterns are all about. Up against the clam shell is the green felt washer which has protected this blade for the last 80 years is present. Lastly is shown the 1935-41 stamped Eickhorn squirrel logo on the reverse ricasso. Exactly what you want to see with these gorgeous Hirschfangers produced by this world renown manufactured during the infamous era.
