Deluxe Grip 2nd Model Kriegs Dagger by Horster – D924

As soon as you pick up a Kriegsmarine dagger which has a noticeable weight difference from the norm, you instantly know that something is going to make that particular edged weapon special. In more times than not, such a dagger will be equip with a genuine “bone type” handle. This is a little gem in this offering.

As the intro mentions, this 2nd model 3rd Reich navy dagger has a deluxe grip which was a special order during the period by the purchaser. So much so, that period catalogs showed the price of this grip option actually exceeded the price of the dagger itself! This handle is in beautiful condition, void of any chips or missing material. As expected it has the typical drying lines associated with these handles when encountered. Additionally, beautiful wavy pearl like lines flow in every segment, on both the obverse and reverse sindes. Tightly wrapped around this handle and all in place is a double strand of decorative copper wire. Adding to the weight of these hilts is the heavy brass fittings which these daggers were equip with. Lastly, it’s nice to have one of these Kriegs in which the hilt is all held solidly in place, with the pommel facing the proper outward position.

The scabbard to this dagger is pretty good considering the soft material which they were constructed from. It remains fairly straight, and void of any major bends, twists, bowing or deformity. The surface has a dull muted appearance, very typical of these navy shells. Both scabbard bands are in place, and hold the hanger rings properly. 2 factory side mounted screws secure the throat.

An absolutely stunning blade completes the description of this Horster 2nd model navy. It remains full length, straight, void of any tipping, sharpening, pits, or cutting edge chips. With the exception of a little surface age at the ricasso typical of where the wood scabbard runners rest, this blade is drop dead gorgeous! A beautiful dark burnished fouled anchor and sea plant etch can be seen in the photos running down both sides of this exceptional blade. Finally, the leather blade washer is intact and up against the lower crossguard butt plate. On the reverse of the ricasso is the trademark of the Solingen edged weapon firm responsible for this fine dagger; E.F. Horster.

This is one sweet 3rd Reich navy dagger in it entirety.   $2595.00
