Blond Grip Ground Rohm by Pack – D944

With 125,000 SA Rohm honor daggers manufactured during the 3rd Reich era, naturally thousands survived despite the order that these edged weapons were to be destroyed. And that is because of the alternative option was to have the blade ground in regards to the dedication / signature, thereby having the dagger returned to the factory to have them accomplish that task or the owner attempting the same. Along with some full surviving Rohm SA’s which collectors treasure, these rough ground blades are also quite popular.

A textbook Pack hilt starts this dagger off in fine order. The wood grip is what some call a blond, featuring a lighter fruit wood look. Firmly set flush in place is an excellent high neck nickel silver eagle favored by this edged weapon firm. Directly above it the SA runes button is equally as nice. The upper and lower crossguards are smooth throughout, and remain uncleaned. The lower guard projects the E. Pack characteristic all the way, being straight and narrow with the reverse gruppe marked Fr. If you look closely you will see a slight grind mark on the lower left where the owner of this edged weapon nicked the fitting while removing the Rohm dedication.

The scabbard to this Rohm honor dagger is in good shape. It remains straight, void of any bends, creases or splits. While it’s not been repainted thankfully, the original anodizing is somewhat worn and rates at 85%. Both upper and lower nickel fittings are in great shape, and held firmly to the scabbard body with 4 period dome head screws. The bottom ball is not smashed in, with just a minor dent so to speak.

We complete this SA with what makes it an honor dagger…..the blade. It remains straight, full length, void of any tipping, cutting edge chips, or sharpening. As shown in the photos, a gorgeous factory polish can be viewed running down the entire obverse of this blade. While a fine line crossgrain imparts a beautiful muted look to the surface. An excellent executed deep etched Alles fur Deutschland motto runs straight down the center of the obverse, and retains a killer original factory burnishing to each and every letter. On the reverse you can see the rough grind of the Rohm honor dedication. This was probably accomplished in a backyard woodshed by its original owner. Though he attempted to grind it all away, you can still make out some bits and pieces of the letters. Having one of these blades certainly adds some personality to a dagger, and a good conversation piece as to how much bier was flowing before the owner realized he missed the blade and hit the crossguard doing his grind job!

A great partial Rohm honor dagger!   SOLD
