Beautiful Police Officer’s Degen by Puma – D1060
In this offering is a fine looking 3rd Reich police officer’s sword in excellent condition, as well as being manufactured by a firm not often associated with these edged weapon. This truly is a sweet shiv in this listing!
The grip to this Nazi era police sword is nothing short of stunning. As shown in the photos, the 13 rung grip remains in pristine condition, void of any chips, flakes, missing chunks, cracks, or even so much as a single pressure mark. An excellent police style grip eagle is nicely centered and properly pinned between the 5th and 9th rung on the obverse. All 13 decorative strands of silver strands are present, in the grooves of the rungs, with the ends securely under the backstrap. As for the plating to the hand guard, both ferrules, and the pommel nut, it just doesn’t get any better. No lifting, no flaking, no nothing. Wrapped around the lower section of the D guard is an excellent police officer’s troddel properly in place. This is one of the best hilt assemblies that I’ve ever seen on a 3rd Reich police officer’s sword.
An excellent scabbard accompanies this Puma degen. The shell is straight, void of any bends, dings, splits, or twists. The factory black enamel is in exceptional condition, rating a strong 95%. That in itself is pretty amazing, in lieu of how long and cumbersome the shells were on these sword whether being worn or stored. Few of them survived in the condition as you see here with this edged weapon. Equally as nice are both the top and bottom fittings to this sheath. Like the hilt components, the plating is truly exceptional on both.
We finish up with the 33” blade to this gorgeous Puma degen. It remains straight, void of any sharpening, tipping, scars, bends, chips, pits, or anything else. On top of that the original factory matte finish is absolutely the best. Though we see this with plated blades often, this condition is rarely encountered on polished examples as we see here. There are a couple specks of age in the riccasso area as well as the tip, though extremely minor and barely worth mentioning. You just don’t encounter police degen blades in this state of preservation but on rare occasions. Even the white leather washer is like new as well. Finally to top it off, the stamped logo displaying a wild cat’s head. That being the trademark of the Puma edged weapon firm.
