Beautiful M33 SS Ground Rohm Honor Dagger by Eickhorn – D1172
As the title implies, this is truly a fantastic early model 33 SS Ground Rohm Honor dagger in this offering. For an Eickhorn introductory dagger which typically are not found with all that great of handles on their SS’s, the grip on this hilt of this edged weapon is truly exceptional to say the least. The wood remains in a state of wonderful preservation, displaying one extremely minor hairline to the lower obverse, and very minimal pressure marks. Both the grip eagle and the SS runes button remain in fantastic condition, set straight and flush to the wood. The crossguards most definitely are the in-house produced fittings as shown by the deep grooves hand chased appearance. All of the hilt metal components have taken on an uncleaned patina over their surfaces, as with every other component on this beautiful dagger.
An excellent scabbard accompanies this Eickhorn ground Rohm honor dagger. The shell remains straight, void of any bends, splits, creases, or dings. The chemical oxide bluing displays strong on this shell, and rates 95%. Both upper and lower nickel fittings have taken on a golden hue over their surfaces, as nothing has been cleaned nor polished on this souvenir since being brought home after WWII. A nice snout nose black hanger completes the assembly. If ever looking for one of these accoutrements you know they are not easy to find. And when doing so are an expensive item to boot.
A beautiful blade completes the description of this desirable early nickel silver SS dagger. The obverse is as nice as they come, with a fine line crossgrain running from hilt to tip, and a stunning factory burnishing to the Meine Ehre heist Treue etch motto running straight down the center. The reverse of this blade exhibits the factory grinding of the once present Rohm signature as well as the dedication. In lieu of that, the firm worker who performed this delicate grind didn’t touch the squirrel logo trademark. While some of these SS Rohm blades were subcontracted out of house to be produced, this one was not. As that is indicated by the serrated squirrel trademark, as well as the motto characteristics.
