Army Officer’s Dagger by WKC – D741

While far from perfect, this Heer officer’s dagger is pretty straight forward, basically untouched, and complete with knot and hangers………well, kind of :))  For someone on a budget or new collector, it the perfect rig.

The light orange Trolon grip to this army officer’s dagger looks to be in pretty good condition. That pretty color is consistent all the way through, both fore and aft. This handle remains in fine shape, being void of any chips, cracks, or missing material. Wrapped around it and the ferrule section is a 43cm knot. The atypical laced portapee is full length, has a nice tight bullion acorn, stem / slide, with wear to the cord that you can see in the photos. The crossguard appears to be early nickel silver, and has taken on a pleasant muted patina to it’s surface. It displays excellent detail as shown to the eagle, wreath, and swastika. Likewise the pommel features the same uncleaned matching patina to it too, with a nicely detailed oak leaf design around it’s circumference.

The scabbard to this dagger is in excellent condition. It remains straight, void of any bends, creases, or splits. Surprisingly, there is even a fair amount of protective lacquer still clinging to a few areas as well.  One extremely minor surface dimple to the lower obverse of this shell is basically it. So small, it can’t be shown in the photos. Both scabbard bands are solid and in place, and hold the hanger rings properly. As a signature component of the WKC edged weapon firm, the throat is held by a single side mounted screw. With this dagger comes a deluxe set of hangers. The pull up clips, keepers and buckles are intact and function fine. At some time the upper belt clip became separated from the bullion straps to this set of hangers. And as you can see, that clip has now been located incorrectly though the straps which separate the bullion from the felt backs. It’s just the way this item came to us, and with this dagger.

We finish this description up with the blade. It is straight, full length, drawn to a correct needle sharp tip, and void of any sharpening, buffing, or cutting edge chips. This factory polished blade surface rating is average, with age spots and imperfection shown. And honestly, it matches the rest of this untouched edged weapon as you see it. On the reverse is the knight’s head trademark which collectors know so well, belonging to the WKC edged weapon firm.

There it is, a good starter Army officer’ dagger, complete with knot and hangers.  SOLD
