Army Officer’s Dagger by Eickhorn – D724

With the introduction of the Heer officer’s dagger in 1935 and manufactured in the 1000’s over the next 8 years, there is always a large number of these edged weapons for which collectors can chose from and add to their collection. On top of that, there were over 50 firms involved with the production of these edged weapons, and some companies employed more than one trademark associated with their company. He’s one such maker which most blade enthusiast know all too well. The king of Solingen edged weapon manufactures, Carl Eickhorn.

The grip to this Heer officer’s dagger is absolutely gorgeous! With the tight design turns in the Torlon material, this handle is as perfect as they come. It is dark pumpkin orange on the obverse, turning just a tad lighter on the reverse side. The material is in excellent shape, being void of any chips, splits, or cracks. The outstretched eagle crossguard shown on this hilt is this firm’s final design. While dark with age, it still projects a fair amount of protective lacquer which is mainly shown on the reverse side. Both the ferrule and pommel are just black as all get out, a look that some collectors absolutely love to encounter.

With the untouched dark hilt to this edged weapon, so too is the beautiful scabbard which accompanies this dagger. It is straight, void of any hits, bends, or dings. and black as the ace of spades. Both second style of scabbard bands are securely in place, and hold the hanger rings properly. As a “fingerprint” Eickhorn characteristic, the thicker throat associated with this maker is held by a single reverse screw.

We complete this Eickhorn army officer’s dagger with the blade. And oh baby, it’s a nice one. Full length, and drawn to an extremely needle sharp tip, this blade is void of any sharpening, reshaping, or cutting edge chips. It has an excellent crossgrain running down both sides from hilt to tip, signifying that this blade has not been overly cleaned nor excessively wiped at any time. Though the surface has a wee bit of spotting, it’s certainly not all that bad considering the absolute untouched condition of this entire edge weapon. On the reverse is shown the burnished jet black seated squirrel holding his sword, the trademark of the famous edged weapon firm which made this gorgeous Heer officer’s dagger.

Though there may be a ton of armies out there times for collectors to chose from, this truly is a nice untouched and desirable Eickhorn Heer officer’s dagger.  SOLD
