Army Officer’s Dagger by Eickhorn – D642

Offering a a good looking Army Officer’s Dagger produce by the Carl Eickhorn firm. This example is a little bit different than your run of the mill army, in that demonstrates the transition army daggers took throughout their production time. The crossguard to this edged weapon, so the early style eagle design that this edged weapon firm used in the construction of their Heer officer’s daggers. The out stretched eagle holding the national swastika symbol has phenomenal detail to all of the birds features. A great pumpkin colored torlon grip is in good condition showing the B style grip pattern. The pommel cap is the 12 leaf pattern and you may be wondering why there is a broken portapee attached and thats because thats how this came and so it will stay for the next owner.

This shell is nice and straight, with very typical Eickhorn in house scabbard bands. This scabbard is void of any dings, twists or bends and has a bit of dirt and grime just as some like to see in a period piece. As normal for Eickhorn in later vintage scabbards is a single screw holding the throat together on the reverse. We see from time to time in these transitional pieces and know personally major Heer collectors who have this on some of their early daggers as well. A nice shell to match and complement the hardware on the hilt.

Finally the blade which matches the quality of the rest of this dagger. It is still loaded with that crossgrain that collectors so love while showing just a bit of age spots here and there. The leather blade washer is in place and tucked up underneath the crossguard. This blade is acid etched with the 1935-41 squirrel logo, which Eickhorn used during this production time frame. A stunning blade to go with this beautiful edged weapon.

Truly one beautiful Eickhorn Heer Officer’s Dagger. SOLD
