Ivory Grip 2nd Model Luft by Alcoso – D1245

Much to collector’s delight, early Luft and Heer daggers which used the unstable material found in Torlon grips, are treated to an array of beautiful colors seen with these handles. From pale white all the way to dark reds and browns, these colored grips add a stunning aspect to the hilts of these edged weapons. However, there was optional cost grips that collectors occasionally encounter that were produced during the period. These genuine ivories are the top of the spectrum when it comes to collecting and rarely offered to the collecting community.

These edged weapons with ivory handle are truly magnificent and much harder to find than Heer daggers. They have the flowing grain striations throughout them and have a pure look. And as you can see in the photos, this one is absolutely stunning! This off-white handle is void of any chips or any other imperfections, and is tightly wrapped with a twisted strand of wire.  The obverse shows great ivory striations flowing through out. On the reverse of the grip are a few age lines which is what you want to see in an ivory grip. Typical Alcoso fittings comprised of the crossguard and pommel complete this hilt assembly. What a killer looking ivory handle on this 2nd Model Luft, surrounded by burnished and patinaed hardware.

The scabbard to this dagger is nice and straight, void of any hits, splits, or bending. It has aged and toned nicely to complement the hilt components. The scabbard bands are tight to this shell, and hold the 2 hanger rings properly. The scabboard is bulbus but not overly rounded as we do see with Alcoso but conforms to the timeframe of the later period when this one was assembled. Finally, the thin lip throat is held by a single flat head screws on the reverse. A beautiful scabbard to this fine edged weapon.

The blade to this Luft dagger is full length and void any nicks, chips, or sharpening. Only showing a little age to it’s surface and is loaded with crossgrain. Underneath of the crossguard is the etch of this edged weapon firm Alcoso that collectors so very well know. There is not much else to say about this blade as it is beautiful and finish off the dagger just as you would hope to find with any prized collection piece.

A rare ivory grip Luft 2nd Model, in collector condition that is typically only passed from collector to collector.  $2295.00
