Ivory Grip Army Dagger by Puma – D1242

As collectors know, there were some specialty edged weapons produced during the 3rd Reich, and none more beautiful than those daggers adorned with a genuine ivory handle. These daggers ordered with this special grip option, more than doubled the price of it, when it was originally sold. As ivory was the actual horn of a living animal, all have beautiful and unique characteristics to their appearance. Whether you have an addiction to Army daggers, or fancy an ivory grip edged weapon, stick around, you’re going to love this baby!

The grip this Army dagger is an absolute killer! A beautiful off white/caramelized color adorns the surface of this handle. On either lateral side, you can see the beautiful age lines that appeared as this ivory dried. It is so neat how this happens, and is what all collectors look for in a true ivory grip. The silvered crossguard and pommel have taken on a beautiful patina, that has remained untouched and uncleaned for 70 some years. Look at the exquisite detail in each of those components. Wrapped around the entire hilt, is a 43cm portapee with just a bit of character, that accents this hilt in a wonderful way.

Everything about this dagger is in good condition, and that includes the scabbard to it. It is straight as an arrow, with heavy silver color, with undisturbed patina throughout. Both of the scabbard bands are firmly in place, as are the hanger rings attached to them. The thicker style throat is held tight to the shell, utilizing two dome headed screws on each side.

Finally we get to the blad and it is in very collectible condition! With only light age here and there it has not been polished, is full length, and void any nicks, chips, or dings. The tip is a bit broad as it appears to be finished this way.  Beautifully etched on the reverse, is this companies trademark, Puma. It consists of the family logo, the puma head within a diamond. The name of the most famous edged weapon firm, located below the puma.
