Army Officer’s Dagger by Puma – D1230

This listing is for a very desirable Heer officer’s dagger which is equipped with and sold during the 3rd Reich era featuring aluminum hilt fittings. That’s right, both the pommel as well as the crossguard are solid cast aluminum. There were a couple of edged weapon firms noted for this unique feature, and none known better than the Puma company.

In lieu of the fact that the lighter base metal was used to produce the crossguard and pommel on the hilt of this dagger, the detail to each is exceptional with excellent relief to boot. Even the breast feathers to the eagle on the crossguard  have remained clear and visible. As for the grip, it has turned a light pumpkin orange, being a little lighter on the reverse than the obverse. A stunning hilt with striking contrast with the aluminum hardware.

An excellent scabbard accompanies this fine-looking Puma army officer’s dagger. The shell is perfectly straight with a rich black patina over its entire surface. Both scabbard bands are in place, and hold the hanger rings properly. 2 flush mounted side screws secure the throat. Once again, the contrast of this dark scabbard to that of the aluminum hilt components is a beautiful combination.

Lastly, the blade. It remains full length, straight, drawn to a super needle point tip, and void of any sharpening, buffing, tipping or cutting-edge chips. The surface has a few light imperfections though not all that detracting per se’. After all, how many aluminum fitting Heer daggers are out there ever to choose from?

This is a fine example that is not all that often encountered. A super neat Heer officer’s dagger!  SOLD
