Early SA Dagger by Spitzer – D1207

This is an all-around decent example of an early nickel silver maker marked Stormtroopers dagger which made its appearance in the 1934-35 timeframe. The darker brown grip, though exhibiting some light usage and pressure marks from the time it was worn during the infamous era, still remains very sound and void of any major splits, cracks, missing chunks or repairs. Both nickel silver emblems consisting of the high-neck eagle and SA runes are in wonderful condition and state of preservation! As shown the detail to each is very nice. As an edged weapon manufactured during this early timeframe, the fittings on this hilt are solid nickel. They are smooth to the touch and have taken a light muted patina over their surfaces.

The scabbard to this Spitzer SA remains fairly straight, showing one ding about the middle of the obverse. Other than that, the shell itself is in decent condition void of any creases, splits, or bends. The light coppery anodizing has held up good on this scabbard even to include a fair amount of protective lacquer still intact. Well, no two ways about it, the lower fitting at some point has taken a whack which has flattened it. I imagine “Ray” the part guy has several of these components, if the next owner found this imperfection too un-sightly. That aside, the upper fitting is in fine shape and held securely in place. Through the upper fitting ring is a later period hanger, as many of these original accoutrements wore out over time from being carried by their owners.

A fine-looking blade completes the description of this SA. It remains straight, full length, void of any buffing, cleaning, sharpening, tipping, or cutting-edge chips. The nice, muted appearance over the surface is beautifully highlighted by a fine line cross grain running from crossguard to tip, on both fore and aft. If that’s not enough for you, check out the stunning dark Alles fur Deutschland motto etch. It doesn’t get any better!

A nice dagger all the way around.  SOLD
