Early Nickel Silver SA by Bickel – D1131

While this firm was basically only known to have manufactured early SA daggers, they certainly did a fine job at doing that. This is an excellent example in this offering.

A typical high ridge oak grip begins the hilt description of this fine-looking introductory Storm Trooper’s dolch. The wood remains in fine condition, save for one minor hairline crack shown above, and running under the SA runes button. That aside, the rest of the handle projects a beautiful light and dark grain running both obverse and reverse sides alike. Both nickel silver emblems consisting of the eagle and runic are in very fine condition and have been expertly set flush and straight to the wood surrounding them. As for the hardware, the cross guards remain smooth, while exhibiting a muted gold patina over their surfaces.

A decent scabbard accompanies this early SA dagger. The shell is straight, void of any creases, hits, bends, or splits. While the chemical brown surface process is period and was factory applied, it has worn a bit thin from the time that the owner of this edged weapon carried it. Both upper and lower nickel fittings are in decent shape and display a muted appearance matching the hardware on the hilt. There is a small crack to the lip of the throat to this shell, which doesn’t affect its integrity. The one screw holding the upper fitting is a replacement which doesn’t fit properly, while the other side is actually missing. A fairly easy fix when the next owner can locate these components.

The blade to this dagger is a honey! It remains straight, full length, void of any sharpening, tipping, buffing, polishing, or cutting-edge chips. A very thin muted fine line crossgrain adorns both sides of the beautiful blade to this Bickel SA, running from hilt to tip.  And typical for this edged weapon firm, a killer deep etched Alles fur Deutschland motto runs perfectly straight down the center of the of the obverse and shown in the photos. On the reverse is the only imperfection so to speak of, a surface mark most likely due to moisture being trapped at one time by the runners. And just as black at the motto, is the Bickel trademark is shown on the reverse riccasso.

A nice solid early nickel SA, with very good appeal.   $1150.00
