Senior Forestry Cutlass by Eickhorn – D1033
This is a very desirable Forestry Hirschfanger manufactured by the Carl Eickhorn edged weapon firm during the 3rd Reich era. Both bone grip plates are beautifully tone, cut with precision, and tightly fit to the hilt of this dagger. Additionally shown with 3 acorns per side all nicely snug and properly secured. As an earlier Eickhorn cutlass, the hardware to this edged weapon is all heavy brass construction. Though the gilt exhibits a little age in some spots, it is all nicely toned with an undisturbed patina. All of the hilt components are secure and firmly tight, to include that of the clam shell.
A decent scabbard accompanies this senior pattern forestry Hirschfanger. Although a little bowed in shape, nothing is broken nor severely creased. The excellent black dyed leather is all intact, and properly stitched down the reverse side. Both lower and upper fittings are in place, with a nice original to the piece frog positioned over the later.
As one would hope for, a fine Eickhorn blade completes the description on this Hirschfanger. It remains full length, straight, tight in the fittings, and void of any tipping, sharpening, or cutting edge chips. The little bit of surface age primarily at the tip is overshadowed by the outrageous dark hunting scenes etched down both obverse and reverse sides. The stamped 1935-41 squirrel trademark proclaiming the famous edged weapon firm who manufactured this gorgeous blade.
An excellent untouched senior forestry dagger, all the way through. SOLD
