Personalized 2nd Model Luftwaffe Dagger by Weyersberg – D991

Of the few edged weapon firms who plated the blades on their 2nd model Luft line up, none did it better than the Paul Weyersberg company. Here is a beauty in this offering that has that going for it, and a bit more.

The squash colored Trolon grip to this 2nd model is in good condition. It is void of any breaks, cracks, splits, or missing material. Tightly wrapped around the circumference of this handle is the decorative springy groove wire all toned and in place. Both the crossguard and pommel show fantastic detail and features, and both have been beautifully hand enhanced as well as burnished to bring out the relief to each. And speaking of crossguard, you’ll notice that the reverse of that component has been expertly engraved with the name Webendoerter. This is rather a unique last name, and we were able to locate it in a Luft officer list. In that summary we found the listing for a Karl Webendoerter, who was last promoted to Kaptain on May 25, 1943. He was stationed at the recruiting district command in Koln as a reserve flak artillery officer. We’re not absolutely certain that this is the individual who owned this dagger, though a very good likelihood that it may be. In any event, it’s a beautifully and expertly engraved personalized dagger. These personalized edged weapons are encountered often in regards to Heer daggers, though rarely seen with 2nd model Lufts. Certainly a special treat for a collector here.

The scabbard to this edged weapon is in good condition. It remains straight, void of any bends, creases, splits, hits, or dings. An excellent untouched dark patina covers it’s surface on both sides, and beautifully matches the hardware on the hilt. Both scabbard bands are firmly in place, and hold the hanger rings properly. 2 screws secure the throat, though one looks to be a replacement.

As for the blade, it’s a sweet thing of beauty! As previously mentioned; when it came to plated blades on 2nd model Luftwaffe daggers, nobody did it better than Weyersberg.

Truly a beautiful personalized edged weapon, in every sense of the word.      $1795.00
