Rare Eagle Pommel HJ Knife by E. Pack – D983

For an HJ knife collector, to be able to have a shot at purchasing one of these elusive youth knives manufactured early on by the Pack edged weapon firm, here is your opportunity! That’s right, this is one of the rare HJ’s in which the pommel section very closely resembles that which we usually associate with Wehrmacht dress bayonets. That being the more distinct refined shape of an eagle’s head than which is normally seen on your typical Hitler Youth knife. Hence one of the alures for collectors to seek out one of these rare examples.

The beautiful checked grip plates to this knife have been expertly trimmed, and fit with precision super tight to the hilt of this edged weapon. They are in wonderful condition, being void of any breakage, cracks, splits, or missing material. Most of the time we associate this manufacture with the large rivets in combination with opposite side spanners, very much like you see in the photos here. The grip diamond is excellent condition, and nicely centered into the obverse plate section. The period plating is fine on this knife, with most of the typical wear in the location of where the hanger snap secures the knife, and the quillion guard.

An excellent scabbard accompanies this rare Pack HJ. It remains straight, void of any bends, creases, splits, or dings. A fantastic period black enamel rates very strong on this shell at 95%. At the top of the sheath is a nice condition leather hanger which function fine, and tightly riveted in place.

Finally the blade. It remains straight, full length, void of any tipping, buffing, cleaning, or cutting edge chips. It does project a mute uncleaned matte finish typical of these edged weapon used by their youthful owners. That aside, it still has a quite visible and all important Blut und Ehre etched motto clearly seen in the photos. On the obverse riccasso is the stamped patent pending letters Ges. Gesch. And on the reverse side the E. Pack Siegfried woodchopper logo.

These do not come up often, and highly recommended if you have been in search of one of these rare eagle pommel HJ knives to get it while you can.  SOLD
