2nd Model Luftwaffe Officers Dagger by WKC – D979
This offering is for an excellent example of a 2nd pattern Luftwaffe officer’s dolch. The squash colored Trolon handle is in excellent condition, void of any chips, cracks, splits, or missing material. Wrapped around the circumference is small single strand of decorative wire which is tight in the grooves, and all in place. The crossguard, ferrule, and pommel fittings are nicely toned and contrast this grip beautifully to a tee. The pommel holds this entire hilt assembly super tight, and faces the correct fore and aft positions. Certainly a quality which is important to most collectors.
The scabbard to this dagger is in fine condition. It remains straight, void of any bends, splits or creases. A wonderful dark patina is shown on both sides of this shell, with traces of the factory lacquer clinging to the side portions. Both textbook WKC scabbard bands are in place, and hold the hanger rings properly. And as a fingerprint signature, a single screw holds the throat properly.
Finally, a beautiful blade completes the description of this 2nd model Luftwaffe officers dagger. It is straight, full length, drawn to a needle sharp tip, and void of any buffing, sharpening, pitting, or cutting edge chips. There are a couple specks of surface age on the reverse lower section as shown. But honestly for everything else this weapon has going for it hardly worth noting. On the reverse is the trademark of excellence that this edged weapon firm stood for. That being the knight’s head logo.
This is a very nice 2nd model Luft, and highly recommended if you happen to be looking for one. SOLD
