Model 1932 MVSN Italian Fascist Dagger – D968
It’s difficult to find an Italian fascist dagger in decent condition, as they are far less common than their German 3rd Reich counterparts. This is a nice early example of once such dagger in this offering.
The hilt if this edged weapon is in excellent condition, being comprised of fine aluminum and black composite grip plates. The eagle pommel as well as the front / back strap areas show little wear to the light weight metal. Additionally, the finger guard is intact and full length as well. Both grip plates are in excellent shape, as this dagger looks to have never been take apart. The brass fasces emblem featuring a bundle of rods with emerging axe blade and symbolized power and jurisdiction, is shown in the obverse grip plate. It has been set flush and straight in the obverse panel of this hilt.
The scabbard to this early Fascist dagger is in good order. The steel shell remains straight, void of any creases, bends, or splits. Overall the plating shows some crazing to both sides, though not all that detracting. As a nice bonus, at the top of the shell the original cloth hanger is still intact.
Finally the blade. It remains full length, void of any sharpening, pitting or cutting edge chips. A killer bright period plate finish has held up extremely well, with just the slightest amount of lifting on the reverse ricasso. The tip of this blade has the slightest bend to it where it was probably used to pry something open at one time. It’s not that horrible, and looks to be about a 1 degree imperfection. A gorgeous blade overall, that aside.
These Italian Fascist era daggers are neat addition to a 3rd Reich edged weapon collection. It’s hard to find a decent one like this. SOLD
