Hitler Youth by C.D. Schaaf – D943
As far as HJ knives are concerned, this one is in good collector condition. Firmly attached to both sides of the grip are the checked grips which are in very nice shape overall. They have been expertly trimmed and fit with precision to the spine of this hilt. Additionally, they remain void of any splits or damage, while being firmly riveted in place. A beautiful HJ diamond can be seen in the center of the obverse plate, and yes there is a slight wiggle which collectors like to see at times. As shown, there is some darkening and wear to the nickel pommel sections where the hold down hanger strap has ridden holding it firm while being worn.
The scabbard to this HJ knife is in good condition as well. It is straight, void of any splits, bends, hits, or creases. An excellent period black enamel covers both obverse and reverse, rating a solid 95%. Tightly riveted to the upper part of the shell the proper hanger is all in place. The leather as a whole remains supple, while the hold down strap is intact and functions properly.
Unlike the vast majority of these youth knives, the blade is exceptional, showing very minimal wear. It is full length void any sharpening, knicks or dings with only very light runner marks. On the reverse is shown the RZM control number M7/56 used by maker C.D. Schaaf edged weapon firm, and the year 1940. An excellent clean HJ example for any collection! $1295.00 Price Reduced $1025.00
