2nd Model Kriegsmarine Dagger by WKC – D791

This beautiful 3rd Reich navy dagger has the combination that collectors absolutely love: hammered scabbard, mint blade, and stunning orange grip. Here is the description.

A fantastic hilt assembly begins this Nazi era Kriegs dagger, and something that sets this edged weapon off from the start. The darker pumpkin orange grip is in stellar condition throughout, void of any chips, splits, or missing material. Wrapped around the circumference is a double strand decorative wire, all tight and securely fastened into the grooved recesses. Both the crossguard and pommel display a fair amount of period gilt over their heavy brass surfaces. Always a bonus on any 3rd Reich navy dagger, the pommel secures the entire hilt assembly tight, while the eagle faces the outward proper position. Encrusted around the crossguard and laced to the base of the pommel, is a gold toned knot which you can tell has been on this dagger forever. This hilt has the look, that just doesn’t get any better.

As an extra cost to the Kriegs officer, this dirk is equip with the desirable hammered scabbard. Peened to resemble the scales on a fish at sea, the shell to this dagger remains in excellent condition. It is straight, void of any major bumps or dings, with a gilded finish that still rates at a conservative 85%. I’ll tell  you this, it is rare to see this type of beautiful finish on one of these navy scabbards, after 3/4 of a century. Finally the hanger bands are tight to the shell, and hold the rings properly. 2 untouched screws secure the throat.

What edged weapon collectors are mainly all about… the blade. It remain perfectly straight, drawn to a needle sharp tip, with a beautiful plated surface to both obverse and reverese. A couple little specks of age are shown in the photos. Though honestly, hardly anything to get worked up about. The fouled anchor and sea plant double etch design is absolutely a screamer! Dark, perfectly executed, straight, and complete, it just doesn’t get any better than what you are seeing here. Typical for the edged weapon firm of WKC on their Kriegs blades, their knight’s head company logo is stamped on the obverse riccasso.

A totally beautiful Kriegsmarine dagger, in it’s entirety. SOLD
