3rd Reich Navy Dirk by WKC – D1054

Offering a very nice Nazi era Kriegsmarine dagger which was manufactured by the famous edged weapon firm of WKC. An absolute gorgeous hilt assembly begins the description of this edged weapon. For the typical composite material over a wood core grip, this Trolon handle has a beautiful appearance, being more brighter white in color than what is normally encountered. It remains in very fine condition, void of any cracks, splits, breakage, or missing material. Wrapped super tight around the circumference and snug in the grooves, the decorative double stand copper wire is all in place. The brass crossguard still exhibits some nice period gilding to it’s surface, and the same is true of the eagle pommel. A beautiful Cellon knot completes this hilt assembly. It is properly laced in a clove leaf hitch, perfectly tied tight and in place.

Collectors just love these hammered scabbards, and one look at this one shows you why. Hand peened  and then beautifully gilded, these sheaths were to represent the scales of a fish. And when you find a nice one like this, they certainly do. This shell is about as straight as you are apt to find with one of these soft brass components, being void of any twists, hits, dents, or major misshaping. Both oak leaf scabbard bands are in place, which hold the hanger rings properly. Two dome head screws secure the throat.

And we finish up with the blade. It is straight, full length, drawn to a needle sharp tip, void of any sharpening, tipping or cutting edge chips. There is a little bit of surface oxidation toward the lower 1/3 of this blade, though not all that horrible for an edged weapon which otherwise is basically untouched. 2 gorgeous dark etched fouled anchor panels are shown in the photos on both the obverse and reverse of this blade. Finally the stamped knight’s head logo stamped on the obverse riccasso, proudly proclaiming the manufacture of this fine Kriegs dagger; WKC.

A nice 3rd Reich navy dagger, all the way through.   SOLD
