3rd Reich Navy Dagger by Eickhorn – D1001

If you are looking for a decent solid Kriegsmarine dolch for your collection, the example in this offering may just be the one. It starts out with white Trolon over wood handle in fine condition. It is void of any chips, crack, splits, or missing material. Nicely wrapped around the circumference is a double strand twisted decorative wire which is tight in the grooves, and all properly in place. Both the eagle pommel and the crossguard, each remain with a fair amount of factory gilt on their surfaces. Up against the butt plate the factory brown felt washer is frozen in time, which protected this beautiful blade for all of those year. The release button is in place, and functions the way that it should.  And finally once for a change, this hilt is all super tight with the pommel facing outward in the proper direction.

The scabbard to this dagger remains fairly straight, though does exhibit a little bit of bowing, as well a single divot to the center obverse. There is a little bit of period gilt up still clinging to the surface around the scabbard bands as shown in the photos. Though the rest of the shell exhibits evidence that this edged weapon was proudly worn and displayed by it’s owner quite often. The oak leaf bands remain tight to the shell and hold the hanger rings properly. Two factory dome head screws secure the throat.

As for the blade…………the photos say far more than what words could ever describe!

An excellent Nazi era Kriegsmarine dagger, with an absolute screaming super dark etch!   SOLD
