3rd Reich Luftwaffe Fighting Knife – D892

Where most of these encountered in the market place have taken a beating to say the least, the fighting knife we have in this offering is the exception to the rule. And speaking of exception, I have to say that this little gem is truly exceptional! Beginning with the oak grip plates which comprise the handle, they remain as about as perfect as you will encounter on one of these neat little fighting knives. Void of any missing material and tightly riveted to the spine, the wood is in excellent condition. So true is the scabbard to this knife. The period factory black enamel is in fantastic condition, and rates 97%. While only displaying a little scuffing at the top obverse, and a mere blemish at the lower reverse. Even the 2 piece spring clip hanger remain uniform and tight, void of a sprang or bent out position. And what a honey of a blade! Full length, loaded with crossgrain, void of any sharpening and with a beautiful matte surface, it doesn’t get much better. A couple very minor surface speck of age is basically it. Properly stamped at the obverse ricasso is the stick eagle Waffenamt proof. We used to be able to find them like this certainly more often in the past. Though not the case that much anymore.  SOLD
