3rd Reich Forestry Hirschfanger by Eickhorn – D1034

As the title says, this a forestry dagger which was produced during the 3rd Reich era. The grip plates are nicely match stag sections, cut, trimmed,  and fit with precision. Both halves remain super tight to the spine, and adorned with 3 beautifully toned acorns per side. The aluminum hilt displays a striking gilt wash throughout, with excellent coverage overall. All of the hardware components are super tight on this hilt, to include that of the clam shell.

An excellent sheath accompanies this forestry Hirschfanger. The shell is surprisingly straight and firm for one of these rather delicate scabbards which quite often are prone to bends, breaks, and spring deformity. Fantastic leather is shown both fore and aft, with just a couple of light scuffs. Both upper and lower steel fittings are properly in place, and have toned dark with age.

Finally the blade. It remains full length, straight, void of any tipping, sharpening, or cutting edge chips. There are a couple small surface imperfections mainly toward the tip. But I’m telling you right now, they are totally overshadowed by the absolutely gorgeous dark burnished hunting and forestry scenes etched down both sides of this blade. On the reverse riccasso is stamped the 1935-41 Eickhorn trademark.

A beautiful DJ Forestry dagger in it’s entirety.     SOLD
