2nd Model Navy by WKC – D690

Finding a 3rd Reich Kreigs dagger which has everything going for it, can be frustrating at times. With fragile grips, hilt shrinkage issues, misaligned pommels, dented scabbard shells, these are just some of the problems that plague these edged weapons. The WKC in this listing is a honey. Not stone mint, but damn nice to say the least.

To begin with, the complete hilt assembly on this edged weapon is as nice as it gets. The off white grip is in excellent condition, void of any damage to the delicate Torlon over wood covering. It is nice wrapped with a double strand of decorative wire which remains in place an tight all around this handle. Though the crossguard is about buried by the original portapee which is laced over it, the reverse shows very nice gilding to it’s surface. And speaking of the knot, take a look at this beautiful toned portapee which is tied in proper reef fashion on this hilt. By all indications the knot is original to this dirk, all in place, and in fantastic condition. Holding the entire assembly together is a stunning eagle pommel. It is tight, and faces the correct forward facing position. For a 3rd Reich piece, the pommel has some of the best detail that you will see with one of these components by any manufacture. On top of that the gold gilt is outrageous, and held up unbelievably intact on this pommel. A wonderful grip and hilt assembly on this Nazi era Kreigsmarine dagger.

The scabbard to this edged weapon is in fine condition. It remains fairly straight for one of these softer brass shells. There is a little dip depression on the obverse, just before where the lower lightening bolt design begins. I don’t know if you can see it in the photos, though it’s not all that bad. The factory gilding is excellent, with about 85% of the shell nicely covered by it. Both scabbard band are in place, and hold the hanger rings properly. 2 dome head screws secure the throat. Pretty decent scabbard all in all.

The blade…… drop dead, stone mint, gorgeous, says it all!
