2nd Model Luftwaffe Officer’s Dagger by Eickhorn – D1121

3rd Reich edge weapon collectors always love the products that the famous Carl Eickhorn firm put out during the era, and the one in this offering doesn’t disappoint either. Have a look.

A beautiful grip starts the description of this 2nd model off in fine order. The near perfect Trolon material is void of any chips, cracks, missing material, while being shade lighter orange on the reverse than shown on the obverse. Typical for this manufacture, the handle is wrapped with a decorative twisted springy wire, which is all in place and tightly set within the surface grooves. An absolutely gorgeous black eagle in flight crossguard contrasts the grip in a fantastic striking manner. Holding this entire hilt assembly firm and solid, is a beautiful gilded swastika pommel. That extra process which only a few of the firms who produced these daggers chose to include, has held up nicely on this component. The obverse swastika remains strong at 95%. Where as the reverse displaying about 85%.

The scabbard to this dagger is straight, void of any bends, twists, splits, creases or dings. It retains a wonderful period airplane gray finish which nicely intact on both sides of this shell. What is unique about this scabbard is that there are no screws in it, it is all pressure fitted with the throat plate. Finally, the eyelets to the scabbard rings show some wear as a result of the hangers and the weight of this edged weapon, during the time it was carried by it’s owner.

A very nice blade completes the finishing touches to this 2nd model Luft dagger. It remains full length, void of any sharpening, tipping, buffing, or cutting edge chips. The end of the tip has a very small bend to it which should be probably left as is. It amounts to about 1-2 degrees off from being straight. A fine line crossgrain is still intact on this blade, running the full length of both sides. There is a little bit of surface age shown in the photos which is actually depicted more by magnification, and is not really all that detracting per se’. Finally that super black burnished squirrel logo is shown on the reverse, that being the mark of excellence when it comes to quality which collectors know so well.

A good looking 2nd model Luft, by the king of Solingen blade manufactures.  $1025.00
