2nd Model Luftwaffe Officer’s Dagger by E. Pack – D898
This is an excellent 2nd Model Luft dagger in this offering, which lands in the middle of the order on the rarity scale. But on the Meda Militaria condition scale, it doesn’t get any better. A beautiful squash colored handle starts the hilt of this edged weapon out in fine order. It remains in nice condition, void of any splits, breaks, or missing Trolon material. Wrapped around it and in place, is the springy twisted decorative wire that this firm was known to use on their grips. While the ends of the wire is firmly and properly stuck into the material, there is just a fraction of play to the rungs where they lie in the handle grooves. It doesn’t compromise the integrity of this beautiful hilt in the least, though I wanted to mention it to be transparent with the description. No biggie, as it is extremely minimal. The crossguard, ferrule and pommel have taken on a fantastic accented patina over their surfaces, void of anything being cleaned or polished. Take a look at the stunning contrast they have to the attractive color of grip on this dagger.
A fine scabbard accompanies this dagger. It is straight as an arrow, and void of any splits, bends, creases, or damage. A gorgeous dark patina very much like the hilt components has covered the surfaces both fore and aft. Both scabbard oak leaf bands are in tact, and hold the hanger rings properly. 2 dome head factory screws secure the throat.
When a blade looks like this, there is not much to add, other than it’s plated, and absolutely stunning!
Hard to find a 3rd Reich dagger that has it all. But this one truly does. SOLD
