2nd Model Luftwaffe Officers’ Dagger by Alcoso – D1256
This is a later example of the last run of 2nd Models Luft manufactured as shown by the 5th logo shown on the reverse of the blade. In spite of that, the quality is still very evident this late in edged weapon production.
The grip to this Alcoso Luft is in very nice condition. The handle has turned a squash light orange in color, and looks to be devoid of any crack, splits, or missing chunks of Trolon. Tightly wrapped around the circumference is the small diameter decorative wire seen with this manufacture during this timeframe. Both the crossguard as well as the pommel project natural aluminum color, with an undisturbed patina over their surfaces. The later component displaying about 20% of the factory gilt to the swastika remaining. Lastly, in regard to the hilt of this dagger, is a nice proper 23cm portapee wrapped around the ferrule and lower grip section.
An excellent scabbard accompanies this Alcoso Luft 2nd model. It remains straight, void of any creases, splits, dings, dents, or bends. A beautiful dark patina is shown on both sides of it, exhibiting a rich black color that is absolutely gorgeous! Both scabbard bands are firmly in place and hold the hanger rings properly. 2 side screws secure the throat.
We finish up with the blade, and it’s a very nice example. It has a little bit of age to it, though nothing is all that detracting.
A fine example of a later Alcoso 2nd Model Luft officers’ dolch. $1025.00
