2nd Model Luftwaffe Dagger by SMF – D1022

SMF, gorgeous plated blade, gilt pommel. Need I say more? Probably not, but I’m going to give you the full enchilada so you can see for yourself 🙂

A nice pumpkin orange grip adorns the hilt of this SMF and it’s a beauty. It remains in very good condition displaying light surface age, void of any chips, crack, splits, or missing material. The decorative springy wire is in place and displays no issues. SMF did a fantastic job on their crossguards, and this one is no exception. This firm took the extra steps to burnish the recessed areas of the eagle’s features in a beautiful fashion and shown in the photos. And the collector attraction to the 2nd model Luft’s that this firm manufactured, being that of the stunning pommel. The gilt on both swastikas is in undisturbed condition with a solid 80% or more present. It truly doesn’t get much better!

These SMF scabbards can be fantastic at times, especially when a collector encounters a nice one and this one certainly is. It’s straight, void of any hits, creases or dents, and is a gorgeous looking scabbard displaying a unique golden tone where the lacquer still clings to the shell, with dark blue surfaces running down both sides.Very unique to see and tells us this is an untouched piece. Collectors always know these SMF scabbards, as they are easily identified by the light colored aluminum bands adorned by very unique oak leave design. Both of those bands hold the aluminum hanger rings properly in place. Finally, 2 flush untouch screws secure the throat firm to the shell. A very nice scabbard to complement this Luftwaffe officer’s dolch

I’m not even going to describe the blade other than saying it’s damn near mint! Just down right beautiful, in every sense of the word. The trademark of a seated king holding an upright sword says it all. That logo burnishing remains as dark as the day that this blade was finish, 3/4 of a century ago.

Better get this one before I stash it in my own collection!  SOLD
