2nd Model Luft Set by Shuttelhofer – D933
It’s always great to find a less common maker in any dagger but then to get one in collector condition is always a bonus. Here is a great 2nd model luft by Shuttelhofer, take a look.
The grip to this 2nd model is a beautiful orange color throughout. The Trolon material is in excellent condition, void of any major chips, cracks, or missing material. Around the circumference is tightly wrapped a twisted strand of decorative springy wire. The airplane gray aluminum crossguard shows great hand enhancing and finish, as nothing has been cleaned nor polished on this entire edged weapon since being returned as a war time souvenir. Holding this complete hilt assembly in place, is the pommel which exactly matches the crossguard in appearance. As a nice bonus a nicely worn portapee is wrapped around the grip. A very attractive hilt assembly in it’s entirely on this Luftwaffe officer’s dolch.
An excellent scabbard accompanies this edged weapon. It remains uncleaned and unpolished and straight. It has taken on a fantastic airplane gray factory finish. Beautifully accenting the shell are the light-colored aluminum bands which are firmly attached. 2 dome head screws hold the throat secure and in place. Accompanying the shell is a great set of deluxe luft hangers. Fully functional and with the decorative oakleaf pattern on not only the hanger clips and lower hardware but also on the belt loop hardware, this set is in great condition.
Lastly a decent blade completes this dagger. It remains straight, drawn to a needle sharp tip, and is void of any sharpening, pitting, or cutting edge chips. The surface remains brightly factory polished showing great cross-grain, with just some light aging. The trademark, as mentioned is maker mark of Shuttelhofer which is a less often seen maker for 2nd model lufts. Interesting to note most Shuttelhofer maker marks are lightly etched as this one shows too.
Great complete dagger that would suit any collection. SOLD
