2nd Model Luft Officer’s Dagger by SMF – D1173

This is an absolutely stunning example of the 2nd pattern Luftwaffe officer’s dagger which was produced by the Stocker edged weapon firm. Certainly, one of the most renown companies to manufacture some of the finest daggers, swords, and gravity knives, particularly for those serving in the Luftwaffe branch of service.

The grip to this dagger has turned a beautiful dark red throughout. As typical, the Trolon has turned a shade lighter on the reverse compared to the obverse. The material remains in wonderful condition, void of any cracks, flakes, gouges, repairs, or missing material. Tightly wrapped around the entire handle is shown the decorative springy wire all intact. Both the pommel as well as the crossguard display a dark rich patina over their surfaces, as nothing has been cleaned on this edged weapon since being returned as a souvenir from WWII. On the reverse of the lower crossguard and jeweler engraved are the initial P.W. It’s quite uncommon to see a personalization on these Luft crossguard because of the pebbled textured surface was a challenge for most engravers. Wrapped around the lower section of the grip and ferrule is the knot that has been on this dagger forever. Those portapees were to signify “flying crew” by their owners.

A beautifully toned scabbard accompanies this SMF 2nd model Luft. The shell is straight, void of any bends, hits, dings, or creases, and has virtually turned black as you can see in the photos. Nicely accenting this effect are the light-colored bands that this firm favored on these edged weapons set firmly in place. 2 flush mounted side screws secure the throat.

As for the factory plated blade, it’s drop dead beautiful!

A stunning SMF Luft, with attractive dark orange grip, and personalized to boot! $1295.00
