2nd Model Luft Dagger by Weyersberg – D1184
I must say that the Weyersberg edged weapon firm manufactured some fantastic early 1st model Luft dagger as well as sword, and that certainly carried over to their 2nd model examples as well. Take a look at the one in this offering.
A light yellow/orange Trolon grip that is void of any cracks, splits, chips accompany this dagger. Tightly wrapped the entire handle is the springy variety wire that this firm was known to use on their grips. The decorative strands are all firm and snug, tightly set in the grooves of the material. The pommel, ferrule, and crossguard have taken on a patina over their surfaces, with all 3 components matching. And speaking of the pommel, take a look there is some gilt left in there. There were only a couple edged weapon firms who took this extra process, with Weyersberg being one.
Well, where I had intended to describe this 2nd model Luft a decent solid example, I had to revise that right while shooting the last of the photographs. In those final shots you can see where the lower scabbard band actually slid out of place from where it should be located. I believe these bands were actually adhered to the shells by a “swet” process used in order to join two metals together. Well, that process fatigued right before my very eyes. The band remains perfectly intact, though needs to be set back into place using some type of liquid adhesive I would imagine. That aside, the entire dagger is virtually untouched as shown.
The Blade has a plated finish with some minor age but overall in good condition. Void any nicks, chips or sharpening to the blade. On the reverse is a perfectly executed makers mark.
An untouched 2nd Model Luft dagger, with the exception of one minor wardrobe malfunction. Bargain priced at $695.00
