2nd Model Luft by Spitzer – D1143
This 2nd model Luftwaffe officer’s dagger rates roughly in the middle of the pack, coming in at a 4 on the rarity scale. It’s off white handle is in very decent condition, being void of any splits, gouges, cracks, or missing material. Additionally, the decorative double strand wire wrap is perfectly tight, in place, and set firm within the handle grooves. As for all 3 medal fittings, they are an attractive airplane gray in color, and nicely contrast this grip Everything is nice and tight on this hilt assembly, and all aligned properly
An excellent scabbard accompanies this Spitzer 2nd model. The shell remains straight, void of any dents, dings, splits, or creases. Both center bands are perfectly in place, and complement the hilt components. 2 dome head screws secure the throat.
A decent blade puts the finishing touches on this Spitzer Luftwaffe officer’s dagger. It remains straight, full length, void of any tipping, sharpening, buffing, aggressive cleaning, or cutting edge chips. There is probably a 2 degree slight curvature to the tang of this blade within the grip, much like we see with many navies, armies, and Lufts, both 1st & 2nd models. It’s nothing to flop around on the floor about, as many dagger directly from the factory exhibit this very same affect. The factory polished surface exhibits some light stains and blemishes, though not all detracting for an edged weapon which is basically untouched. On the reverse is shown the prancing lion trademark of the Gustav Spitzer edged weapon firm.
A good condition 2nd model Luft for the money. SOLD
