2nd Model Luft by Eickhorn – D1142

This is a 2nd model Luftwaffe officers dagger exhibiting an un-touched condition like many enthusiasts like to find. Additionally, it has a rarer small stamped Eickhorn trademark which is not all that often encountered. Have a look.

An excellent pumpkin colored grip sets the tone for this edged weapon off nicely. The Trolon material has turned a shade darker on the obverse and turning to a more yellow color on the reverse side. The material has held up nicely on this handle, as it is void of any cracks, chips, or breakage. Additionally, the circumference remains tightly wrapped with the springy decorative wire which this firm was known to use on their 2nd model line up. Both the pommel and the crossguard are crusty as all get out, as nothing has been cleaned nor touched on this dagger since being returned as a souvenir from WWII. As shown in the photos, even a little bit of desirable period gilt still clings to the obverse pommel swastika.

The scabbard to this Eickhorn 2nd model is in fine shape. The shell remains straight, void of any bends, splits, creases, or hits. A thick near black patina covers it’s entirety, very much like the hardware on the hilt. Both scabbard bands are in place, and hold the hanger rings properly. 2 flush side screws secure the trademark Eickhorn style thicker throat.

A sweet blade completes the description of this dagger. It is full length, straight, void of any tipping, buffing, polishing, or cutting edged chips. True to form for this renown edged weapon firm, a gorgeous crossgrain graces both sides of this blade, from hilt to tip. On the reverse riccasso is shown the small stamped squirrel trademark used for just a limited time during roughly 1940.

For the purest, you’ve got to love this look!   $945.00
