28″ Railroad Eagle – G231

This listing is for a 720mm rail eagle which definitely has the look which collectors seek with a vengeance! The obverse natural muted aluminum has taken on dull patina over the years, which is accented with darkening in the recessed areas. The detail is exquisite on this bird, with high relief shown to the features of the feathers, wreath, swastika, and more. The eagle plaque is void of any breakage, bending, extra drilled holes, or any other damage. On the reverse normally seen with 5 larger stud area on these particular eagles, this example was machined down to display short and threaded boss structures for the application this plaque was displayed on. Typical for this unknown manufacture the mold shows a number of symbols and numbers associated with the eagles which they produced: #16403, Wag 720, GAL Mg, P.F., HY51, RZA 7, BLN. Lastly there is some evidence of old dried adhesive that the vet must have used to stick his war trophy on the wall of the den in his home.  This baby has it all; 28”, studs intact, gorgeous patina….and the killer look !    SOLD
