1st Model Luft Officer’s Dagger by Alcoso – D712

Outside of SMF and Eickhorn, collectors don’t encounter all that many early manufactures of the 1st model Luft dagger. While the mid and late period produced edged weapons we see trademarked by quite a few companies, the introductory nickel examples other than the 2 companies I mentioned, are just that prevalent. Here is an Alcoso with the earliest logo that you are see on one of these 1st models. With the condition being outstanding as well.

A beautiful hilt begins this Fliegerdolch, with a fantastic grip assembly which is as perfect as they get. The dark blue Moroccan leather is all in place, void of a even so much as a pressure mark to the grain. It is all tightly wrapped around the wooden core of this handle, and held secure by the triple strand of copper decorative wire. Take a look at the amount of protected silver frosting remaining on the down swept crossguard. It’s just something which is rarely encountered on one of these daggers. The pressed in swastika discs are still bright, protected by the period clear coat over these component. All of this is held securely by the heavy silvered pommel assembly which has turned dark with a beautiful undisturbed patina.

Accompanying this dagger is a gorgeous scabbard. The shell remains perfectly straight, covered in a blue – gray leather which perfectly matches that on the handle. The leather is absolutely stunning on this scabbard, as it is evident that the owner of this 1st model must had cherished his prized edged weapon. All 3 stamped silver fittings are super tight to the shell, and display varying degrees of age on their surfaces. They are held secure by 5 factory installed screws. Attached to the center and upper fitting is the nickel silver chain assembly consisting of 8 links on the upper span, and 13 on the lower. All the link connectors are in place and original to this assembly. An unmarked nickel clip completes this hanger.

As for the plated blade, it’s absolutely gorgeous in every respect! Stamped on the reverse is the 1st trademark used by this edged weapon firm which is rarely encountered on a nickel silver 1st model. It simply is the balanced scales logo with the letters ACS.

Rare 1st model trademark, all early nickel silver, fantastic condition. You couldn’t ask for anything more. SOLD
